Our Story

I'm the founder of Joy's Corner Finds — and for a while, it was just me, a laptop, and a lot of homesickness.

I'm Isoko, born in Delta State, Nigeria. I started this brand because I kept looking for something simple: apparel and gifts that actually felt like home, not a vague "African print" pattern designed by someone who'd never set foot in Nigeria. I wanted pieces that carried real language — Isoko, Edo, Igbo, Yoruba — spoken by people who actually grew up saying those words at home, not run through a translator by a stranger.

So I started making them myself.

Every design on this site is built the same way: rooted in something real — a phrase my mother used, a word that means more in Isoko than it ever could in English, a piece of pride I wanted to wear without having to explain it. When I put "Ayaba" or an Isoko phrase on a shirt, I know exactly what it means, because it's mine.

This is a one-woman operation — and I'll be honest, it hasn't been an easy one to build. I'm visually impaired and live with hydrocephalus, which means most days require more patience and workarounds than people realize just to get a single design finished, let alone a whole shop running. I design every piece, write every product description, and personally read every message that comes through this site anyway, because this brand matters enough to me to keep showing up for it.

When you order from Joy's Corner Finds, you're not ordering from a warehouse — you're supporting someone building this one shirt, one hoodie, one mug at a time, against odds that would've given a lot of people a reason to quit.

Why it matters to me:
If you're in the diaspora — if you've ever had to explain where Isoko or Edo or Igbo is, or missed a language you didn't get to speak enough, or wanted something for your mum or your matriarch that actually meant something — this shop exists for you.
