Finding My Vision Beyond Sight: The Story Behind Joy’s Corner Finds

There’s a version of my life that looks very different from most people’s.

I live with hydrocephalus. I am visually impaired. And for a long time, that meant learning how to move through a world that wasn’t built with me in mind.

Simple things aren’t always simple. Reading, navigating spaces, even completing daily tasks can take more effort, more patience, and more strength than people see.

But somewhere along the way, I made a decision.

I refused to let my condition define the limits of my life.

Instead, I started asking myself a different question:

What can I still build? What can I still create? What can I still become?

That question is what led to the birth of Joy’s Corner Finds in 2025.

More Than a Store

Joy’s Corner Finds didn’t start as just a business idea.

It started as a feeling.

A deep connection to culture. To tradition. To identity.

Growing up, culture wasn’t just something you talked about—it was something you lived. The way you dressed, the words you spoke, the pride you carried… it all meant something.

But I started noticing something.

So many people were losing that connection. Or hiding it. Or feeling like they had to “fit in” instead of standing in who they are.

And I knew I didn’t want that.

I wanted to create something where culture could be seen, worn, and celebrated—boldly and unapologetically.

Building Through Challenges

Starting a brand is not easy.

Starting a brand while navigating disability? That’s a different level entirely.

There are days when my body is tired. Days when my vision makes things harder than they should be. Days when I have to move slower than I want to.

But I kept going.

Because this wasn’t just about selling products.

It was about proving something—to myself and to others.
